Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This notice explains how Coast Cams uses personal information when you browse or buy from shop.coastcams.com, contact us, or use a shop account.

Who is responsible for your information?

The data controller is Neil Salter trading as Coast Cams, 9 Queen Street, Dawlish, EX7 9HB, United Kingdom. For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, email info@coastcams.com or write to this address.

Information we collect

We collect the details you provide when ordering or contacting us: your name, email, billing and delivery addresses, telephone number where supplied, products and sizes ordered, order notes, messages, and photographs you send about a product problem. We also hold order totals, payment status, transaction references, refunds and delivery information.

Our website and service providers process technical information such as IP address, browser/device details, security logs and session information. WooCommerce order attribution records referral sources, campaign links, device type and session page views associated with purchases. If you use an existing account, we process your login and account details. If you submit a product review, your chosen display name and review may be published; please do not include private information in the review.

Why we use it and our lawful bases

Orders and customer service — contract: to take payment, supply products, arrange delivery, answer order enquiries and handle cancellations, returns and refunds. We need essential contact and delivery information to fulfil an order; without it we may be unable to supply your goods.

Legal obligations: to retain accounting records, meet tax requirements, comply with consumer law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

Legitimate interests: to keep the shop secure, prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, manage correspondence and legal claims, and understand sales performance. Our interests are running a reliable shop and protecting our customers and business; we consider your rights when using information for these purposes. Cookie permission requirements apply separately.

Consent: where you choose to receive optional email marketing or where consent is required for optional tracking. You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Buying something does not, by itself, subscribe you to marketing.

Who receives information

Neil Salter manages customer information for Coast Cams. We share the information necessary to run the shop with service providers: SiteGround for hosting and website security; WooCommerce/Automattic and its payment partner Stripe for WooPayments, payment checks and related services; Printful for production, fulfilment and product-problem assessment; Royal Mail and other fulfilment carriers for delivery; and providers supporting our business email and backups.

Printful receives relevant order, recipient and delivery details for the merchandise it fulfils, and relevant photographs and messages when investigating a problem. Calendars are fulfilled by Coast Cams. Carriers may send delivery and tracking updates. Payment providers process card information in their secure payment systems; our shop does not store your full card number or card security code. They may also process data for their own fraud-prevention and regulatory purposes.

We may disclose information to authorities where legally required, or to professional advisers where necessary to deal with a legal or accounting matter. We do not sell your personal information.

Email marketing and basket reminders

Where an optional Coast Cams newsletter signup or basket-reminder service is offered, its wording will explain what you are agreeing to. We use ActiveCampaign for Coast Cams email marketing. Relevant contact details and consent preferences are shared with it if you subscribe through an enabled signup. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. Order confirmations and essential service messages are separate from marketing.

Newsletter signup and automated abandoned-basket reminders are not yet enabled in this shop at the date of this notice. This notice does not itself enrol you in either service. We will update it and the relevant collection notices when these services are introduced.

Cookies and similar technology

WooCommerce uses cookies and browser storage to maintain your basket and shopping session. WordPress uses cookies for login and account functions where applicable. Payment services use technology for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. Blocking these functions in your browser may prevent the basket, login or checkout from working.

WooCommerce order attribution also uses cookies with names beginning sbjs_ to record how a shopping visit began and related session information. These are short-lived session cookies; sbjs_session normally lasts 30 minutes. Attribution information is saved with an order when a purchase is made. You can delete or block cookies using your browser settings.

Processing outside the UK

Some providers, including Printful and our payment providers, operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK. Where restricted transfers occur, appropriate safeguards are required, such as UK adequacy arrangements or approved contractual protections. Printful describes its international processing and contractual safeguards in its privacy and data-processing terms. Contact us if you would like information about safeguards relevant to your data.

Provider information: Printful privacy; Automattic privacy; Stripe privacy; ActiveCampaign privacy.

How long we keep information

Completed shop orders are configured for automatic anonymisation of personal details after 12 months. Routine customer correspondence is retained for 12 months after the enquiry is resolved, then reviewed and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. We retain information for longer where needed for an unresolved order, return, dispute, fraud investigation or legal obligation. This is a retention policy, not a promise that every system or backup deletes information automatically on the anniversary.

Accounting records are kept separately for the legally required period. For our sole-trader business, this is generally at least five years after the 31 January tax-return submission deadline for the relevant tax year. Existing account information is kept while needed to provide the account, subject to inactivity review. Security logs and backups are retained only as needed for security and recovery and are subject to their own rotation.

Where you subscribe to marketing, we keep your subscription and consent information while needed to manage it. We may retain a minimal suppression record after you unsubscribe so that we can respect your choice.

Your rights and complaints

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your information, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or transfer of information you provided. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing at any time. These rights have exceptions, including where records must be kept by law. Email info@coastcams.com; we may ask for proportionate identity verification and will normally respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with our handling of your information, please contact us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. You do not have to complain to us first.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when the shop or our processing changes and bring material changes to your attention where appropriate. The date above identifies this version.
